Unlike the classic method that requires soaking and fermenting lentils overnight, this mix allows you to prepare soft, spongy, and savory cakes in under 20 minutes.
How It’s Prepared
- Mix: Blend the instant powder with water and oil to form a smooth, lump-free batter.
- Steam: Pour the batter into a greased tray and steam for about 15–20 minutes until it rises.
- Tadka (Tempering): Once cooled and sliced, a hot tempering of mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, and a splash of sugar water is poured over the top to keep it moist and flavorful.
- Garnish: Traditionally topped with freshly chopped coriander and grated coconut.
